Star Group have been engaged by the Australian National University in Canberra to deliver the electrical services associated with the Data Centre upgrade project. Due to the growth in data holdings, the power requirements to support increased data storage now exceeded the capacity of the two existing Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems within building 143. Works included the replacement of DBs, MSBs, UPS’s and the implementation of temporary diesel generators carried out on multiple buildings over 3 stages. As stipulated by the client ANU, it was critical that the Data Centre facility remain fully operational during the delivery of the new works, with nil disruption to operation of their existing clients. To achieve this, careful planning and coordination with multiple stake holders was necessary to produce the methodology documentation required to achieve the desired outcome.
