The Alexandria Fire Station Electrical Upgrade Project has reached practical completion!
The Alexandria Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) precinct is a crucial component of the emergency services infrastructure for New South Wales. All 000 emergency calls and major emergency response operations, particularly during fires and floods, are coordinated by the Support Operations Centre through this precinct.
Our Star Group City Service team was engaged by NSW Public Works as the Principal Contractor to upgrade and modernise the existing critical electrical infrastructure. The works involved the installation of new main switchboards, a new 200kVa backup generator plant with associated updated controls, fuel delivery infrastructure, a new load bank, upgrading new fire-rated supplies to life safety equipment, and installing a new external link box and manual transfer switch to the existing site generator.
In close collaboration with FRNSW Fire Safety and NSW Public Works stakeholders, Star Group developed a comprehensive shutdown methodology and implementation plan. The plan focused on minimising outage time for critical services, providing an extensive temporary power arrangement, and ensuring all work adhered to workplace health and safety standards.
Thank you, NSW Public Works and FRNSW Fire Safety, for the opportunity to upgrade and modernise the electrical infrastructure at this precinct. Congratulations to our City Service team for delivering a high-quality project on time and budget and successfully completing a five-consecutive-day shutdown for this vital emergency services hub.
