NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to celebrate, learn and recognise the histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who are the custodians of the land where we work and deliver our services.
The theme for NAIDOC Week this year is, For Our Elders, which recognises the significant role Elders play in passing down knowledge, traditions, and culture to generations to come.
Star Group is passionate about continually learning and developing our understanding of Indigenous Culture, especially the importance of knowledge transfer and storytelling by elders to connect individuals to each other and their communities, including workplaces.
As part of our Responsible Corporate Citizen strategic goals, Star Group has a committed focus on powering and connecting indigenous communities through increasing the engagement of indigenous service providers, providing employment opportunities, and undertaking community initiatives.
In line with our ongoing commitment and to signify the impact of the indigenous culture on our business, Star Group commissioned Jordan Lovegrove, Ngarrindjeri, of Dreamtime Creative to create an indigenous artwork that has been blended into our branding and supports our company’s purpose – to power and connect communities and skylines.
The artwork is titled “From Small Beginnings, Big Things Grow“, which we are proud to share again on this significant week where we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the elders of the indigenous communities across this beautiful country we call home, Australia.
